The Parish Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was started in 1992 after all houses were contacted by the Parish Council to assess support and now covers 345 houses in the Parish. The scheme was set up by the Police with the help of nearly 50 residents who offered to help in the organisation.

Jane Meaden is General Co-ordinator and Chris Pogson and Vivienne Avery are now assisting as secretary and treasurer.

There are 9 Area Co-ordinators who look after various areas of the Parish:
Jane Meaden, Eric Greenough, Chris Pogson, Ray Garlick,
Hugh Kennon, Tom Shaw, Mel Smith, Peter Thomas and Rex Woolstencroft.

The co-ordinators work through 38 contact people, who each have about 10 houses on their 'patch'. This provides a cascade system of communications which is one way we deliver the 'Over Kellet View'. This monthly village magazine contains a Neighbourhood Watch section which reports on any relevant crimes and crime trends in the area.   In addition to this system, urgent messages and warnings are placed on the village notice boards, whenever necessary.
